Trove Studio is a content manager for DAZ Studio that brings together searching across multiple libraries, folder browsing, asset organization and actions performed directly in your scene. It helps you find characters, clothing, hair, poses, materials, props, environments, lights, cameras and scripts. It can also discover named objects stored inside larger scenes and, where supported, load those objects individually.
1. Search across multiple content libraries
The application searches its own local indexes of files and folders in the libraries you add. Results from multiple locations are available through one interface. Its search engine operates independently of DAZ Studio's CMS/Smart Content search, so manually installed content can also be indexed.
Quick Index covers DUF files and DSA, DSB and DSE scripts. Deep Scan examines the structure of supported DUF files. Collections can additionally hold references to supported legacy DAZ/Poser formats; this does not mean those formats receive full deep indexing.
File searches run when you click Search or press Enter. The application shows how it interprets your query and reports invalid syntax. Recent search history lets you reuse earlier queries.
2. Advanced search expressions
- Use + to require both terms: table + prison.
- Use / to search alternatives: table / bed.
- Use parentheses to group conditions: (table / desk) + prison.
- Use quotation marks for an exact phrase: "cocktail dress".
- Use a minus sign to exclude a word: table -wood.
- Category names after a minus sign exclude whole categories, for example restaurant -poses. Supported exclusions include materials, clothing, hair, props, figures, characters, environments, expressions, lights and cameras.
- A space at the end of a query enables whole-word matching: bed followed by a space does not match bedroom.
- Relevance sorting prioritizes exact name matches over longer names containing the same word.
3. Categories and filters
Narrow results using categories and subtypes:
- Figures & Characters: Base Figures and Characters.
- Wearables: Clothing and Hair.
- Scene: Props and Environments.
- Poses & Animation: Poses, Full Body Only and Expressions.
- Materials.
- Lights & Cameras: Lights and Cameras.
- Scripts.
- Extracted: Extracted Objects.
- Other.
An All view is also available. Additional filters cover Genesis 3, Genesis 8 or Genesis 9 generation, Female/Male/Unisex or Unknown gender, and your own tags. Genesis 8.1 is grouped with Genesis 8 in the generation filter.
You can restrict results to starred favorites, the Temporary list and selected tags, and choose whether to include objects discovered inside scenes. Filters operate within the active scope: normal libraries, Added Favorites or Collections.
Classification uses names, locations and the information available during file analysis. Users can manually correct categories and gender assignments.
4. Sorting and result navigation
Sort results by relevance, name, source folder, creation date or modification date. Reverse the sorting direction whenever needed. Choosing a date sort shows the newest files first by default.
Results are divided into pages of 250 items. The application displays result counts and the range shown on the current page, with controls for moving between pages. Back and Forward let you return to earlier search results and their settings.
5. Quick Index, Deep Scan and folder Index
Quick Index collects file names, paths, dates and the information needed to display thumbnails. It lets you begin working before detailed library analysis is complete.
Deep Scan reads DUF structure and metadata, refines classification, examines complex scenes and analyzes pose scope. Previously indexed results remain available while the application adds more information.
A separate folder index supports searches by folder name. Pose-scope information is stored separately as well.
Updates are incremental. While running, the application monitors changes in watched libraries and updates information about new or modified files. Deep Scan can be paused, resumed and stopped. Completed batches remain saved, and interrupted work can continue after restarting the application.
Manage Indexing provides indexing status and progress, Quick Index updates, Deep Scan controls and advanced options for rebuilding indexes. An initial deep scan of a very large library can take substantial time; it does not need to be repeated before every search.
Deep Scan processes large amounts of data inside DUF files. For very large libraries, it can take several hours or more than ten hours. It runs in the background; in the creator’s tests it did not interfere with normal work. Quick Index lets you search standalone assets sooner. Complete results for objects stored only inside scenes require the relevant files to be analysed. Shutting down the computer does not erase saved progress: after restarting, Deep Scan checks its database and continues the interrupted work.
6. Pose-scope analysis
The Full Body Only filter can use the actual bone changes stored in a preset rather than relying only on words in its file name. Analysis distinguishes major lower-body, torso and upper-body regions. Fine finger, toe and facial controls do not inflate the major-bone count.
For files that have not yet received structural analysis, the application uses the earlier name-based rules. Deep Scan progressively adds more detailed information.
7. Library management and Temporary hiding
Add further content libraries and review your configured locations. Disable Temporarily hides a selected library from results and navigation while preserving its Quick and Deep indexes. Enable Library restores its visibility without forcing a rescan of the retained data.
This makes it easier to prepare a view for recording, a presentation or a particular project. Hiding a library also filters its associated organizational views and references to its files.
Remove Library is a separate operation: it removes the library from the configuration and deletes its index entries. It does not delete DAZ content files from disk.
8. Folder browser and navigation
Browse Libraries displays the actual folder structure of your libraries in columns and lets you open a selected folder's contents. It includes folder-name search, recent folder searches, parent-folder navigation, Back and Forward.
Folders mode searches directory names. View Contents opens a folder inside Trove, Browse shows it in Windows Explorer, and Locate in DAZ navigates to it in Content Library.
Selecting a result can reveal its location in navigation. Switching between the normal view, Added Favorites and Collections preserves their current context, selection and scroll position. Added Favorites and Collections also maintain independent view state for individual libraries.
9. Favorite folders and colored pins
Mark folders as favorites. Favorite Folders Only restricts navigation to the relevant branches, while shortcuts to favorite folders provide quick access to selected locations.
A separate pinning system provides quick folder shortcuts in Libraries, Added Favorites and Collections. Pins have four colors: green, yellow, red and blue. Groups of pinned shortcuts can be collapsed and expanded. These markings are retained independently of the search indexes.
10. Loading and actions in DAZ Studio
A local bridge connects Trove Studio to DAZ Studio. From search results you can:
- add an asset to the current scene;
- apply a pose to a figure or transformation settings to the appropriate object;
- open a file as a new scene, using DAZ's handling of unsaved changes;
- open native pose-loading options;
- locate an asset's folder in Content Library;
- reveal the source file in Windows Explorer;
- copy the source path through the Full menu;
- run a supported script through DAZ Studio.
Double-clicking runs the standard action for the result. The context menu provides actions appropriate to the asset type. The application reports when the bridge does not acknowledge a command.
11. Native pose-loading options
Apply Pose with DAZ Options opens DAZ Studio's Pose Preset Load Options dialog. Select Root or Selected and choose how changes propagate using the native dialog's controls.
Ctrl+double-clicking a single pose opens these options directly. Partial poses can be applied to the bones stored in the preset.
12. Automatic Genesis pose conversion — Preview
The trial includes automatic conversion of static body poses between Genesis 3, Genesis 8/8.1 and Genesis 9 in both directions. Select the target figure in DAZ Studio and choose a pose in Trove. The application identifies the source and target figures and adapts the supported bone settings.
The system accounts for differences in skeleton structure, bone orientation, split joints and movement ranges. It goes beyond copying identical rotation values between generations.
Conversion is enabled by default and can be disabled in Options. Matching generations use normal DAZ loading. If a custom preset does not reliably identify its source generation, the application asks and remembers your answer for that version of the file. You can also assign the same source information to unmarked poses in a folder and change your selection through Set pose source figure.
This preview covers the body; facial-expression conversion and animated sequences are outside its scope. Installed source base-skeleton files and any pose controllers required by the preset are needed. Unusual or unsupported channels may prevent conversion. A failed operation is designed to leave no partially applied result. A completed conversion can be undone in DAZ.
The converter requires Trove Studio to be running with a valid authorization. The trial does not include a standalone converter package for use without Studio.
13. Favorites — star existing assets
Use the star to mark an existing asset as a favorite. Favorites Only restricts the current search to starred assets. Unmark an asset without deleting its file.
This is a convenient list of references to assets in their original locations. It is independent of the physical Added Favorites folder.
14. Added Favorites — save your own assets from DAZ
A configurable keyboard shortcut in DAZ Studio opens Add to Favorites. Save elements or settings prepared in your scene to the chosen Favorites folder under the appropriate category.
Available save categories:
- Figures & Characters: Base Figures and Characters, saved as the appropriate scene subsets.
- Wearables: Clothing, Hair and Custom Wearables, including your own sets of items worn by a figure.
- Scene: Scenes, Props and Environments.
- Poses & Animation: Full Poses, Partial Poses and Expressions.
- Materials.
- Lights & Cameras: Lights and Cameras.
- Scripts.
The application uses DAZ Studio's save filters for each asset type. For applicable selections, choose to save only the selected item or include its children. Wearable sets use the relevant DAZ options. You can enter a name for the asset being saved.
New poses retain source-figure and gender information where it can be identified. If gender is unknown, the application asks you to choose before saving. Partial poses and expressions use this mechanism too.
Set or change the Favorites location and shortcut in Options. Libraries can have their own assigned Favorites folders. Saved files are available in Browse Added Favorites with filters and thumbnails.
These are presets and files saved using DAZ mechanisms; they may still require the original installed geometry, textures and other dependencies.
15. Copy files to Added Favorites
Add one file or multiple selected files to Favorites from Trove. Choose a category for the whole selection, with an optional shared suffix added to each file's individual name.
The application keeps original file names and extensions, copies available thumbnails and resolves naming collisions without overwriting existing files. Assets are organized in numbered subfolders containing up to 50 items each.
DSA, DSB and DSE scripts can also be copied through Add to Favorites in DAZ. They are not executed during copying. Their external dependencies are not automatically assembled into a self-contained package.
Remove from Favorites provides a removal action for a saved asset, separate from simply removing its star.
16. Collections — organize content your way
Collections are virtual folders containing references to assets. Create collections and subcollections, rename them and organize content by project, theme, character or your own workflow.
One asset can belong to several collections. Adding it does not require copying or moving the original file. Add one or multiple results through the menu, or drag supported files onto a collection. Removing a reference or a collection leaves the original files in place.
Each physical library has its own set of collections. A collection can reference files from different libraries and drives. Searching in Collections mode stays within the selected library's collection set; a shared asset is not repeatedly duplicated in set-wide results. Missing source files are marked Missing.
17. Automatic collection backups
Before you first add files, the application asks you to choose a backup folder. Collection changes create successive database snapshots, retaining the latest 20 versions.
Options lets you change the backup location, run Backup Collections Now and restore an earlier state. Restoring retains a safety copy of the previous database. Backup failures are reported to the user.
18. Temporary — a working asset list
Temporary provides a quick way to gather items for the current scene, project or work session. Add or remove individual items or multiple selected assets.
Temporary Only restricts results to this list. Clear Temporary removes its references while preserving asset files, Favorites and Collections. The list is stored separately from the other organizational features.
19. Custom tags and classification corrections
Create your own tags and assign them to one or multiple selected assets. Search existing tags, add new tags, select several tags and filter results to assets carrying any of the selected tags.
Sort the tag list by usage frequency, alphabetically or by the number of assigned assets. The application remembers the last selection and sort order. A colored indicator shows an active tag filter, which can be turned off with one click.
Tag / Classify also lets you correct an asset's category and gender assignment. Corrections are stored in user data without renaming DAZ files or requiring a complete index rebuild.
Detach selected tags from selected assets, remove all tags from those assets, or delete selected or all tags globally through the tag manager. Removing tags does not delete separately stored category and gender corrections.
20. Discover and extract objects from scenes
Deep Scan can discover a named object inside a larger scene, even when no separate visible preset is available for loading it.
The application distinguishes:
- verified matches to an existing standalone DUF;
- objects associated with a parent geometry owner or group;
- experimental geometry-only extraction from DSF data;
- Search Only results whose source needs further analysis.
Analyze Object examines one source file without waiting for the entire library scan. Where supported, load an object at the world origin, 0,0,0, or preserve its position from the source scene.
For geometry-only extraction, the application can prepare a temporary OBJ instead of loading the entire scene. Where available, it preserves UVs, material groups, base color and basic maps. Complex Iray materials, rigging, morphs, instances and scene dependencies may need correction. Extraction does not imply complete reconstruction of every property of the original object.
Include extracted scene objects adds these results to prop searches. Extracted Objects shows only this result type. You can also add the entire source scene.
21. Prop replacement — Beta
Replace Selected Prop replaces a simple prop selected in DAZ with another prop from the results. It retains world position and rotation, but does not copy scale. The existing object is removed only after the replacement has loaded and the required checks have passed.
This beta feature supports simple props. It is not a system for replacing complete Genesis figures.
22. File and folder operations
The normal Search/Libraries view supports copying, cutting and pasting files with Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X and Ctrl+V. You can also drag files into folders. Dropping onto Collections adds references rather than moving files.
Rename changes the physical name of a file or folder inside a library. The application retains the file extension, handles associated previews and updates its own references in indexes, tags, Favorites, Temporary and Collections. A virtual collection folder is renamed within the collection structure. Configured library roots and drive roots are excluded from this action. Rename does not rewrite internal references stored inside third-party presets or scripts.
Delete File sends selected physical asset files and their preview images to the Windows Recycle Bin after confirmation. It does not automatically remove geometry, textures or other dependencies. Removing a virtual collection reference remains a separate action.
23. Thumbnails and interface
Results appear as tiles with names and category badges such as POSE, PROP, MATERIAL or CHARACTER. Hover previews show an enlarged thumbnail, name and full source path, including when another window is active.
Adjust thumbnail size with Ctrl+mouse wheel or Ctrl+plus/Ctrl+minus. The selected size is remembered. Ctrl+click and Shift+click let you select multiple assets for batch operations.
Choose System, Light or Dark themes and either Compact or Full context menus. Background colors and status text help distinguish normal libraries, Collections and Added Favorites. Trial context menus and submenus remain within the application window; long menus retain scrolling. The application remembers window position and size.
24. Startup and keyboard shortcuts
Launch Trove Studio through its EXE or the Bridge Start script in DAZ. An option lets it start automatically with DAZ Studio, with a mechanism for restoring the previous startup setting.
Configure two separate shortcuts: opening Add to Favorites in DAZ, and switching between DAZ Studio and Trove Studio. The application-switching shortcut is released while other applications are active.
25. Index backups, help and diagnostics
Manage Indexing provides manual Quick and Deep Index backups and backup restoration. The system retains the latest three backups of each index type. Index rebuilding is a separate advanced option; normal library enabling and disabling does not require it.
Help is available through the question-mark button and F1. It covers searching, filters, tags, indexes, collections, Added Favorites, loading and troubleshooting.
The package includes Bridge Start, Stop, Status and Clear Queue tools. Status reports bridge readiness, pending commands and the last error. Clear Queue removes commands that have not been executed. Remove Selected Node is a separate utility for deliberately deleting the selected scene node. Unexpected application errors can be recorded in local diagnostic logs.
26. Local data and preservation of your work
Search indexes, collections, Favorites, Temporary and user metadata are stored locally, separately from DAZ's CMS database. Scanning reads file contents and does not execute scanned scripts. Saving presets, file operations and loading into a scene are separate user actions.
Trial expiry does not delete indexes, collections, tags or your saved files.
27. Public trial terms
The public beta uses a PRIZMAT account and activation key. Your first successful activation starts a full, guaranteed 30-day trial. Downloading, extracting and registering do not use up that time. PRIZMAT may extend access while the sales release is delayed. After sales launch, your personal access deadline is the latest of the original 30-day end, launch plus 72 hours, or an individual extension. Launch never shortens a trial already started. Enrollment of new testers is controlled separately. The application displays server-confirmed dates.
Activation requires an internet connection. Authorization refreshes daily, and a valid confirmation allows offline use for up to 72 hours, never beyond your personal access deadline. Manual refresh and deactivation are available. The trial requires no payment card or automatic charges.
28. Information banner
The built-in banner can show announcements, update information, offers and website links. Its content is updated remotely using the same system and publication channel as Trove Searcher Lite. The application supports HTML campaigns and image/text variants, depending on the available content and environment.
29. Addon support
The trial retains support for detecting compatible, separately installed addons. Addon actions appear once the addon is installed and the corresponding entitlement is available. Missing addons leave no empty menu entries or separators.
This package includes the body-pose conversion described above. G8/G8.1–G9 head- and body-shape converters, texture conversion, clothing conversion, hair conversion and facial-expression conversion are not included in this trial. Dedicated database import from Searcher Lite to Studio also remains planned and is separate from existing index backup and restoration.
30. Environment and release status
The prepared package is a Windows x64 application that works with an installed copy of DAZ Studio. Library content, base figures, textures and other asset dependencies come from the user's installation. This version has an English interface.
This is a public beta intended for testing. Features marked Preview, Beta or Experimental retain that status in promotional materials. They should not be presented as a guarantee of identical results for every available asset.
31. Encrypted DAZ scripts
Every DAZ script supplied in the package uses the native encrypted DSE format, including the bridge, startup scripts, Favorites and utilities. The pose converter embedded in the application is also native encrypted DSE. The application does not deliver readable converter source to DAZ. Editable source files are not part of the user package.
Trove Studio in your daily workflow
Your DAZ libraries in one place. Search for assets, browse folders, build collections and tags, and save your own presets directly from DAZ Studio. The trial also includes automatic static body pose adaptation between Genesis 3, 8/8.1 and 9 as a Preview feature.
